Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis) Treatment

Do you suffer from excessive sweating under your armpits?

It’s a recognised condition called hyperhidrosis – and there are effective treatment options available.

Using a series of small, superficial injections into the underarm area, we can reduce sweat production by upwards of 80%, with results typically lasting 3–6 months.

The treatment works by temporarily blocking the signals from the nerves that tell the sweat glands to produce sweat. In people with hyperhidrosis, these glands can be overactive, leading to excessive sweating.

You don’t necessarily need to suffer from hyperhidrosis to consider treatment. If underarm sweating is something you’re particularly conscious of – perhaps ahead of a wedding, holiday or special event – treatment may also be suitable for cosmetic reasons.

You may start to notice a reduction in sweating within 2–4 days, with the full effect usually seen within 2 weeks.

If excessive sweating is affecting your confidence or day-to-day life, get in touch to find out more about the treatment options available at EK Clinic..

Having met with Emma now on several occasions for various treatments, I would not go anywhere else. More recently I have had the Cyropen treatment which after downtime, has now given me more confidence and look after my skin better now. The thread vein removal was amazing . What a difference during those summer months! Currently having Profhilo my face looks fresher. Highly recommend Emma’s professionalism.

FAQ

What is Hyperhidrosis and why do I sweat excessively?

Your body automatically cools itself when your temperature rises. So your nervous system activates your sweat glands. With people with hyperhidrosis the nerves that signal the sweat glands are overactive. Hence more sweat.

How does the botox work?

Botulinum Toxin also known as Botox is injected around the area of concern, just below the skin, by our expert injectors. We do 15-20 injections with super fine needles, in a grid pattern.

Botox temporarily inhibits the release of acetylcholine, preventing the overstimulation of your sweat glands. Botox intercepts the message telling the glands to secrete sweat, so they don’t. Therefore, Botox minimises sweating in the area where it has been injected.

Is this the same Botox you use to stop lines and wrinkles?

Yes! When it comes to smoothing lines and wrinkles the Botox is used to temporarily block the nerve signal to stop the muscle contraction. In this case the Botox acts on the glands instead of the muscles. This treatment stops the signals to the glands that tell them to produce sweat. So they don’t. Problem solved.

How many treatments are required?

This treatment is temporary, so more treatments are required. But most patients see a reduction in sweat for 3-6 months.

What are the results?

Sweat production is significantly reduced - upwards of 80%. This treatment normally gives a noticeable difference within 2-4 days, but you’ll experience the full effects within 2 weeks. The treatment is effective for 3-6 months.

How can I book?
